Objective
Score more points than your opponents by building words on the board, crossword-style, using your letter tiles.
The Board
The board is 16×16. Some squares carry a bonus — but only on the turn a tile is first placed there. Playing back over that square later with a different word does not trigger it again.
- 2L — doubles the value of that one letter.
- 3L — triples the value of that one letter.
- 2W — doubles the score of the whole word that uses that square.
- 3W — triples the score of the whole word that uses that square.
- ★ Start Zone — the first word of the game must cross one of these four center squares.
Tiles
130 tiles in the bag, including 4 blanks. A blank can stand in for any letter you choose when you play it, but it always scores 0 points. Everyone plays with a rack of 8 tiles.
Taking a Turn
- Play Word — drag tiles from your rack onto the board in one unbroken row or column. After the opening play, every new word must connect to a tile already on the board, and every word your tiles form (the main word, plus any new cross words) has to be a real, recognized word.
- Shuffle Rack — reorders your tiles. Free, no cost to your turn.
- Recall Tiles — returns any tiles you've placed but not yet played back to your rack.
- Exchange — swap tiles for new ones from the bag (only when enough tiles remain). Uses your turn.
- Pass Turn — skip your turn.
Scoring
Add up each newly placed letter's value, doubled or tripled by any 2L/3L square underneath it, then apply any 2W/3W multiplier to the whole word's total. If one play forms several words at once, each is scored separately and added together. Use all 8 tiles from your rack in a single turn and you also earn a 40-point GRAND SCRAMBLE bonus.
CPU Opponents
Play against 1–3 computer opponents, each set independently to Rookie, Regular, or Ace. Higher difficulty means the CPU searches for longer, higher-scoring words and plays more consistently.
End of Game
The game ends when the bag is empty and someone has played every tile in their rack, or after a stretch of turns with no words played. Whoever empties their rack that way collects everyone else's unplayed tile value as a bonus; otherwise, each player simply subtracts the value of whatever's left in their own rack.
Honor System
No dictionary is perfect. If a word you believe is real gets rejected, or the CPU sneaks in one that shouldn't be valid, use the Honor System panel to add or reject it. The change applies immediately and is shared with every player from then on.
